NATURAL RESOURCES
Natural resources with curative effects, concerning mineral springs, peloids (i.e. peat, mud or boggy soil), cannot be found everywhere. They can only be found in several places in the world, notably in other places in Central Europe and abundantly in the Czech Republic. The place of their deposit is always unique, and it is crucial for the composition of the natural resource. Czech spa medicine, balneotherapy, is an inseparable part of European cultural heritage and thanks to its high quality of natural medicinal resources, it has extraordinary fame and respect in European as well as overseas awareness.
Mineral springs rising on the area of Mariánské Lázně are cold springs, slightly mineralised acidulous waters, with temperatures that fluctuate between 7 and 10 °C. They originate at shallow depths, and they vary in chemical composition, which consists of water, carbon dioxide and diluted rock. Waters from Mariánské Lázně have up to six different chemical compositions.
Medicinal acidulous mineral waters originate from precipitation, which are absorbed by soil and gradually descend through cracks in the rocks. A current of underground water, mixed with rising carbon dioxide contained in the soil make weak acid, which causes dilution of minerals from the surrounding rock. The release of gas caused by a decrease in pressure, then intensifies the strength of the acidulous water current which rises to the surface. An essential part of spa treatment is also the suitable climatic conditions. Mariánské Lázně belongs amongst the places with the cleanest air in the Czech Republic and the local climate is used especially for curing respiration illnesses.
The variety of the chemical composition of the local springs enables curing a large number of various illnesses. Thanks to this diversity, patients with kidney and urinary tract diseases, respiratory, digestive system and skin illnesses come to Mariánské Lázně. Acidulous waters from Mariánské Lázně can also cure metabolic disorders, disorders of endocrine glands and nerves and locomotor system illnesses.
Spa & Wellness Hotel Olympia has obtained authorization to use natural medicinal resources for spa treatment from the Czech Spa Inspectorate (Ministry of Health). We are using natural mineral water and peat for spa treatments.
PEAT
For balneotherapy in our hotel, certified sulphur-ferrous peat is used. Peat wraps have a beneficial effect on the locomotor system, nerves and skin and they are one of the leading treatments within thermotherapy.

NATURAL MINERAL WATER
We use the certified Forest Spring, which has a chemical composition and total mineralisation that is unique world-wide. It is especially used for inhalation therapy. Other springs are used for mineral water drinking treatments.
